Hi All,
Today in grade 9 math, we looked at curve lines and their comparison to curved and lines of best fit. Homework for tonight was pg. 361 #2,3.
In grade 9 science, we looked at the surface and composition of the sun. Students learnt about solar flares and solar prominences while reading about auroras and radiation hazards on their own.
In the afternoon we had our usual double block of math and period of science.
In grade 7 math, students took the first 20 minutes and worked on Khan Academy. After their independent work, we moved into textbooks and a class lesson on variables. Students came up with algebraic expressions for unknown scenarios.
In grade 8 math, students looked at communicating mathematical understanding using their words and then explored the concept of surface area. Well done to Adrian who had been thinking about the concept and came up with a formula all on his own!
In science, we explored types of structures and how to classify them . Students looked at solid, frame and shell structures as well as how to classify structures in nature as well as man-made.
Homework:
30-hour famine notices went home today. Those are due back April 11th. As long as students have permission from parents, all students are welcome to participate!
See everyone tomorrow!
Miss Elliott
