After a LONG Weekend Tuesday

Hi All!

I hope everyone enjoyed their thanksgiving and got their fill of turkey!

Today in grade 9 math class we took some time to review our exponent rules from last week.
- When we multiply exponents, we add the powers
- When we divide exponents we subtract the powers
- When we raise a power to a power, we multiply the powers together
We then moved on to look at using algebra tiles to formulate algebraic expressions. Build a polynomial expression to represent these tiles
Square Square, blue rectangle, blue rectangle, blue rectangle

Square= x2
small square= x
rectangle=y
any blue or red tile  is a negative of that shape.

Science:
In science today we looked at matter in ecosystems. We explored how matter is generated and cycled through ecosystems. We stepped back and examined how the carbon cycle works and how it is related to cellular respiration. Question: What does ATP stand for?

Math: Grade 7/8
Today we reviewed our unit 2 work. The grade 7s looked at equivalent ratios, scales and unit rates. We played a game of fraction bingo, learning to use our mental math strategies in our head.
The grade 8s worked on their unit task of pricing and budgeting for university. They will continue to look at the cost of a car vs the cost of living in residence next week. Both grades have their unit 2 test tomorrow!

Science: In grade 7/8 science today we took observational data on our plants. The radishes are really growing strong in some of the pots and the grass is needing to be mowed ASAP! Well done everyone!

Homework:
Unit Test tomorrow, study- use your sheets!
Grade 9 Math: Pg. 102 #1-8
Science: What form does water stay in the longest?

Reminders
- Cross Country Meet tomorrow, please see the MEET TEAM posted at the side of my blog
