Math: Today in grade 9 math we looked at powers to the power of another power. We came up with a rule for finding equal powers. e.g.
125^7
= (5^3)^7
= 5^21
Therefore we say that we find the perfect square or cube of the base, and state it as such and then raise that to the same power. Because we now have a power to another power, we multiply these powers and determine our final answer.
Science: In grade 9 science today, we looked at activity B in our gizmo. We established individual questions and hypothesis and will be testing them tomorrow in class.
Math: Grade 7/8: Today in class the grade 9s taught us about BEDMAS. Thank you to Ramy and Arielle for teaching the students about order of operations. After our guest lecture, we discussed sales tax, discounts and commission. Grade 8 students calculated the sales price on a new pair of skates and the commission on a $279,000 condo. The grade 7s worked on their unit review. They will be having a test on Tuesday.
Science: Today in science we took observation data on our seeds and their progress!
Homework:
Study Hall notices will be going home tomorrow. Please check your student's bag for their schedule. I will also be emailing and calling parents to ensure we are all ready to go for next Thursday and the following Tuesday.
Cross Country: Meet next Wednesday, please make sure money is by tomorrow!! $15.00, please give it to your homeroom teacher!
