April 5th

Hi All,

We began our day today with an exciting turn of events in our house game. Theta finally caught up to Kappa and Zeta with a house game of dodgeball! Well done to Mr. Browning and Mr. Murphy for being good sports!

We moved from our house game and into gym. Students continued participating in their round robin tournament of badminton. Well done to Alina and Darren, and Temi and Azum who have both made it to the finals.
We headed upstairs after gym to begin the rest of our day. We started the morning taking up our spelling and having our final unit 19 test.
After spelling we moved into math. The grade 7s focused on trapezoids with Ms. H taking them downstairs to diagram the shapes on the auditorium floor. In grade 8 math, we focused on central tendencies, looking at outliers and bar graphs.
After math, we enjoyed an outdoor recess and a pizza lunch! Students have been working hard over the last six months to earn a column of paperclips that spans form the ceiling to the floor. They have earned these paper clips through kind acts, caring behaviour, and overall good judgement. These paperclips earned them the pizza lunch and a movie during lunch. Students enjoyed Madagascar 3 while they chowed down on their pizza reward. Well done everyone!
After lunch and recess, we had science. Students worked on their lab reports from Wednesday, completing results, data, and conclusions. We had explored the topics of pressure, volume, and temperature, and students concluded that all of these science concepts have an effect on mechanical efficiency when applied to objects.
We paused science to head downstairs and read to our reading buddies. Students sat on the couch, in the classroom and in the nursery reading a variety of texts to their SK buddies.
Once we left our buddies, we headed back upstairs to complete our lab reports. Students submitted their lab reports just before recess and we wrapped up concept 1.2 in our unit.
After another outdoor recess, we enjoyed our second lunch. Mme Stella then ended our day with work on Les Miserables in French.
