March 26th

Hi All,

Mr. Browning began the students day today with fitness testing and a game of basketball. The students are definitely getting back into shape!

After gym, we headed up to the portable for the rest of our day. In our first language block, students worked on editing their narrative paragraphs. They will be presenting their paragraphs tomorrow.
We wrapped up language and moved into math. Grade 7s worked on area and perimeter of parallelograms, while the grade 8s looked at collecting census and sample surveys.
We enjoyed a sunny outdoor recess, before beginning our afternoon lessons. In history we began our look into the "Western War". Students practiced their oral fluency reading aloud as well as their note taking skills. We will be continuing with this lesson on Thursday and students will be writing a newspaper article from the perspective of a 1618 journalist.
After history we moved into art. For this term we will be looking at artistic styles and began our study today with a look at realism. Students took a photo of an object in the class, printed it, cut it in half, and then drew in the missing half on paper.
We wrapped up art and the students headed inside for a game of Bump and indoor recess. Mme. Stella ended the day with French, working on the students Les Miserables play.

Homework
- Novel choice by tomorrow

See everyone tomorrow!
Miss Elliott
