Hi All,
What a wet and snowy day we had today!
Mr. Browning began our day with gym. Even though there was only six of us, Mr. Browning had the students play a game of 3-on-3 hockey.
After gym we slushed up to the portable to begin our academic day. Students examined explanatory paragraphs and we inquired into the society of "The Giver" We then compared and contrasted our modern society to "The Giver" as well as "The Hunger Games". Students watched a clip from the movie "The Hunger Games" that outlined this futuristic civilization. We examined the districts as well as living in the Capitol. Students then wrote an explanatory paragraph comparing and contrasting these societies. Many students extended their learning, looking at what districts our classroom would be considered as well as what districts other parts of the world would be. Students are welcome to watch and comment on the rest of the movie, however this must be done at home with parental approval.
After an indoor lunch and recess, we began our afternoon. During our afternoon block together, students built their own digestive system. We examined the variety of large and small digestive organs as well as the capillaries, cells and enzymes. Students will continue this learning on Friday.
