It was wonderful seeing everyones' face again this morning. Two weeks sure did fly by!
Back to regular scheduling, we started our day with gym. Mr. Browning is back as our gym teacher and had the students running the beep test. It was a good start to our January and an even better one after the over-eating from the holidays.
After gym we headed up to the portable and took out our Language C books. Students looked at the uses and functions of semi-colons and colons. After language, we had math. Ms. Bannon is now in our classroom in the mornings and delivered the grade 7 lesson on fractions. The grade 8s were with myself and we began our geometry unit.
With a wonderful dumping of snow over the holidays, the students enjoyed a refreshing outdoor recess making snow-forts and playing on the hill.
In the afternoon, we had writing, reading and art. Students composed a summary piece on their winter holidays and we began a new novel study in reading. For the term, we will be looking at the novel "The Giver" by Lois Lowry and students are to find the book from the library by no later than Friday.
After Reading, we moved into Art. Students were assigned their summative task for the unit; they will be required to submit a piece of art on community and service by the end of the unit.
Mme. Stella ended the day with French after another brisk and fort-building filled recess.
