January 23

Hi All,

We began our today today with a CrossFit workout in gym. Students monitored their heart rate to see how hard they were really working! Well done to many of them who got their heart rates up to over 150 bpm.
 We sauntered up to the portable after gym to begin our day. In language, students continued to look at verbs. We looked at action and state of being verbs and made a verb wall on our class blue-board.
After language, we transitioned into math. Grade 7 students began their unit review on fractions and decimals, while the grade 8s began their unit projects, "Building a Circus".
With the freezing cold weather, we scurried inside for indoor first recess; we enjoyed hot pizza when we returned to the portable for lunch.
Beginning our afternoon, we opened our spelling books to work on wrapping up unit #14. Students who had already finished their work, focused on their history summaries in chapter 7.
After spelling and history, we took a look at our Giver novels. We read the beginning of chapter 9 and learnt about Jonas' book of rules. Students were then assigned their own jobs and had to come up with their own book of rules.
After another indoor recess, we had a science period. We began looking at the digestive system and saw how we absorb nutrients and digest our food.

- The Giver up to chapter 12 read by Friday
