January 24th

Hi All,

Today, Mr. Browning began our day with a basketball game. Students got their heart rate ups passing, shooting and running.
Mother Nature brought us another cold day and we scampered up to the portable quite quickly to begin our day. In language we looked at helping verbs. We identified verb phrases and their corresponding helping and action verbs. We moved into math afterwards and the grade 7s began their unit problem. The grade 8s worked on their circus tents and all of the students worked towards "Miss Elliott bucks".
The cold weather kept us indoor for recess where we enjoyed volleyball and basketball. Hot dogs were on the menu for lunch today, and they were delicious!
After lunch, in period 4 and 5, students worked in their peer groups on their history chapter 7 summary and fishbone. We focused on transition sentences and strong introductions and conclusions.
With Ms. Henein still away, Ms Lopez took the students in period 6 for Drama; students practiced their play for the up-coming Gala.
After another indoor recess and lunch, we ended our day with a discussion on our speeches. Students will be competing in this years speech competition and will be writing persuasive speeches. Guidelines will be posted on the YouTube Channel. Please see the link to the side!
