Hi All,
We began our day today with gym. Students began their new unit on basketball and started with skills and drills.
We quickly moved up to the portable after gym; with the chilly weather we needed to get inside fast! In our first period block, we worked on language. Students looked at the High Flight written passage and responded to short answer questions. They also looked conjunctive adverbs and explanatory responses.
We swiftly moved into math with the grade 7s focusing on dividing decimals and the grade 8s taking up their homework.
Due to the cold weather, we enjoyed an indoor first recess. With today being penne day, students enjoyed hot lunches after recess.
We wrapped up lunch and had our unit #13 spelling test. What a list this week was! Well done everyone.
After spelling in period 5, students focused on peer editing their "Giver" summaries. They completed their fishbones and we ended the period with a chapter 1-5 pop quiz!
A short 6th period, led to us discussing our up-coming U of I project deadlines and submission requests. Students are required to have their final proposal submitted by Friday and will begin working on their projects on Monday and Wednesdays in the coming weeks.
After another indoor recess we ended our day with a work-period. Students completed math homework, science work, their Giver summary and their art proposals.
Homework:
Grade 8: WB pg. 50-52
Grade 7: TB pg. 151 #1-12
The Giver- good copy due tomorrow
Art Proposal due Friday
OWA on Friday
See everyone tomorrow!
Miss Elliott
