March 31st

Hi All,

Today we began our day with a mid-unit review in math. Students completed work looking at scatter plot data and lines of best fit. I handed back Friday's quiz and students reviewed their work. We also worked on our IB binders and organized our work under our tabs.

In science, we began discussing our science fair projects. Students will be looking at Unit E in their science textbooks for their projects while we study Unit D: The Study of the Universe in class.

In the afternoon, we had grade 7/8 math and science.
In grade 7 math we took up homework from last day and reviewed patterns and trends in graphing data.  The grade 8s worked on their mid-unit review.
Homework: Grade 7: WB: Pg. 206-209
Grade 8s: Unit 6 Mid Unit Review, # 1-12

Science:
In grade 7/8 science, we had our first lesson on structures. We explored the top 20 coolest structures around the world, as well as the top ten architectural failures. Students looked at upside down buildings,  the tallest buildings in the world, a building made out of books, and unstable buildings falling with a shift in the Earth and high winds. Students designed a small scale structure that they thought would stand up to high winds. Designs will be presented tomorrow.
