Welcome Back

Hi All,

Welcome back to school after, hopefully, a restful holiday break.

Today in the grade 9 math class, we reviewed our MYP unit question and jogged our memories on algebra.
After math we moved into science and explored the periodic table of elements. Students looked at the elements and filled in a KWL chart documenting what they already know.

In grade 7/8 math today we reviewed fractions and decimals. Reminder to all students:
- Adding and subtracting fractions requires you to have a common denominator. Whatever you do to the bottom, you must also do to the top!
In grade 8 math, we looked at dividing fractions. We explored two ways to do this and students completed 4 questions in their textbooks. Students also reflected on which way worked best and made the most sense to them.
The grade 7s completed their mid unit review, refreshing themselves on adding and subtracting fractions.

In grade 7/8 science we took up our WHMIS quiz and looked at the elements on the periodic table. Tomorrow we will be reviewing what physical properties mean and how they present themselves throughout the elements.

Reminders:
All students must be in the SJA embroidered white oxford to be considered in full uniform. Please book an appointment with  Alpa if you do not have the proper shirt. uniforms@stjudesacademy.com
