In grade 9 math this morning, we looked at more word problems. We kept at isolating variables and decoding the math within the english language. UNIT TEST FRIDAY
In science, we looked at atomic mass, atomic number, protons, electrons, and neutrons. Students defined isotopes and looked at how atomic mass and number related to protons, electrons and neutrons. We touched on electron placement and the idea that electrons can be shared between two elements when they come together.
In grade 7/8 math today, we completed the practice test. Students will have their fractions and decimals unit test tomorrow. Remember to review the rules on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing fractions. We will continue the unit problem on Monday. Curling is on Friday.
In grade 7/8 science, we continued our conversation on fractional distillation and looked at it's implications in our world. We also discussed how we could perform distillation at home using sugar and water or dirt and water.
Students also made final observations on their resource lab. We will conduct this lab again once the warmer weather begins after march break.
