Math:
Today in grade 7/8 math we reviewed ratios. Students then looked at comparing ratios and building scales to fit larger objects on a smaller piece of paper.
Grade 7s: Can you find equivalent ratios for these ratios:
2:3, 7:8, 2:9
500 House points for the student who brings me the answer first!
Grade 8s: Can you determine the actual size of this poster, based on a 1: 12 ratio?
In Grade 9 math today, students received their first unit test marks and spent time reviewing the corrections needed. For extensions and extra credit students will have a unit assignment handed out tomorrow due Friday! We also then took a look at powers and polynomials in our chapter 2 "skills you need"
Science:
In grade 7/8 science today, some students began their science lab. Students planted their seeds and took time writing down their procedure and initial observations. Students who forgot their materials were assigned jump ahead readings and took notes during the class period.
In grade 9 science, we looked at the abiotic and biotic features of sustainable ecosystems. Students also took notes on their mini-ecosystems and record data based on their findings.
