February 11th

Hi All,

What a snowstorm mother nature through our way this past weekend! I hope everyone stayed warm and off the roads.

We began our day with fitness in gym with Mr. Browning. The students had the music pumping as they did a circuit style workout.

After gym we all headed up to the portable to begin our academic day. In our 2nd period language block, students looked at the rough drafts of their speeches. The rough drafts will be due tomorrow after 2nd period language. They will be peer edited on Thursday.
We moved into math for period 3 and 4 where the grade 7s looked at mean, median and mode and the grade 8s explored division using fractions.
After a nice outdoor recess, we began our afternoon with a look at re-counts. Students have been assigned chapters from "The Giver" and will be giving a re-count of their chapter on the student blog. Students or parents have been emailed the link to the blog and may log in from there. You must have a gmail account to post, and my suggestion to students is that they all get themselves a gmail account for this exercise. The blog re-counts will be graded and students must submit a rough draft prior to posting online.
After language we had an art period working on our community service art projects. These projects are due on Feb. 28th.
After another outdoor recess, we came inside and ended our day with French.
