Hi All,

Today we began our day with the grade 9 mission. Students explored line segments and linear equations. They determined algebraic expressions that would model a fencing scenario for a farmer. Students submitted their missions during study hall.
In science this am, we explored the concept of molecular and ionic compounds. We looked at how each of these compounds are formed and how the electron and proton balance can affect ionic compounds.

In the grade 7/8 class, we began math with the grade 7s. The grade 7s looked at probability and percentage using jelly beans, cookies and word problems. Well done grade 7s!
In grade 8 math we looked at probability using dice. Grade 8s were expected to convert fractions into decimals with a sense of ease. They were inspired by reward jelly beans ;)

In science, we reviewed our labs and then took some time to review our speeches. Speech topics are coming along nicely and are being developed excellently. Some examples of topics include: the effect of music on the brain, fame and corruption, the reasons we dream, the art of comedy, just to name a few! I would like to see a rough draft by Wednesday and would like to have a finalized draft as of Friday. The students have some work to do during this week and should not be coming home with no homework!!
